GRANTS AND PROJECTS
1980-1989
- 1981 – Contributed to the Outreach Program of Agudath Israel of America, for an audio-visual series of lectures and classes about Judaism.
- 1981 – Contributed toward the cost of publishing and distributing the “College Guide for Jewish High School Students and College Freshmen”, prepared by Yavneh.
- 1983 – Contributed to the West Side Institutional Synagogue upon its honoring Rabbi Dr. O. Asher Reichel and Rebbetzin Josephine Reichel at its annual dinner upon 36 years of service to the synagogue.
- 1984 – Contributed toward the printing of cards containing the Al Hamichyeh and Borei Nefashot blessings.
- 1984 – Contributed to Chizuk, toward the proposed Harry and Jane Fischel Drop-In Center where people would come for Judaic Studies classes, counseling and special programs.
- 1984 – Donated sets of the “L’shon Nafshi”, book-cassettes (for self instruction in reading Hebrew) to Chizuk.
- 1984 – Donated one set of “Ta’amim Lakorim” with cassettes (for self instruction in laining) to each Day School requesting it.
- 1984 – Contributed toward the rebinding of religious books in poor condition, which had been given to the OU or National Council of Young Israel.
- 1984 – Established a program of loans to Torah Umesorah to finance the publication of books useful in Jewish education.
- 1984 – Contributed to the Jewish Education Program (JEP) of the Agudath Israel of America toward the printing of the “Alef Bet Workshop” book, the “Leaders’ Guide” book and for Shabbatons.
- 1984 – Contributed to the National Council of Synagogue Youth (NCSY) of the Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations of America (OU) toward Shabbaton expenses.
- 1985 – Contributed to the Harry and Jane Fischel Foundation Drop-In Center of Agudath Israel.
- 1985 – Contributed to NCSY toward Shabbaton expenses.
- 1985 – Contributed additional funding to JEP for its “Leaders’ Guide” book.
- 1986 – Contributed toward an exhibit by Chizuk regarding Passover.
- 1986 – Subsidized the publication of a Kashrut booklet for home attendants.
- 1986 – Contributed toward the Torah Conference which offered lectures on Jewish religious law based on the works of Chief Rabbi Kook.
- 1986 – Contributed to Torah Umesorah for the exhibition of film strips urging students to continue in Jewish Day Schools after elementary school.
- 1986 – Contributed toward the reprinting and distribution of the article “Ten Ways to Stop an Intermarriage”, by Rabbi Jacob J. Hecht.
- 1986 – Donated copies of “This Is My G-d”, by Herman Wouk, and “Lehavin Ulihaskil: A Guide to Torah Hashkofoh”, by Rabbi Eliezer Gevirtz, to NCSY and to the National Council of Young Israel.
- 1986 – Contributed to the Manhattan Day School upon its honoring Rabbi Dr. O. Asher Reichel with its Rabbinic Leadership Award at its annual dinner.
- 1987 – Subsidized the publication of a pamphlet entitled “Keeping Kosher for Home Attendants”, which provided Kashrut instructions to home attendants. Another pamphlet was issued for Passover.
- 1987 – Contributed to the Lubavitch Youth Organization to help cover costs of a Melave Malka aimed at introducing non-observant Jews to Torah-true ideals of marriage and related family subjects.
- 1988 – Contributed toward the production of a videotape of the pamphlet “Kashrut Guide for Home Attendants”.
- 1988 – Dedicated the bima in the main sanctuary of Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun in honor of the 40th Yahrzeit of Harry Fischel.
- 1988 – Contributed toward the preparation and distribution of an illustrated pamphlet to encourage enrollment in religious high schools.
- 1988 – Contributed toward the preparation and distribution of a circular to encourage public school pupils to enroll in Released Time classes.
- 1989 – Financed and administered the Jewish Funeral Project, consisting of the production, distribution and advertising of a flier recommending that people sign a statement in which they request that their funeral be conducted in accordance with Jewish law and tradition.
- 1989 – Contributed to the Womens’ Branch of the OU to pay for the cost of publications of educational material for Orthodox sisterhoods.
- 1989 – Contributed to the Beth Hamidrash Hagadol.
